Cleaning Process
Exterior CLEANING
Every wash and detail starts the same way: I do a walk around the vehicle to see what condition the vehicle is in. The goal is to locate areas of concern that you as the client need to be aware of and to formulate a game plan for how the cleaning will be done. This is when I decide if a rinse-less wash or a traditional wash is the right solution. At this point, I’ll provide a quote for the job and we can discuss what service is most appropriate based on your budget, needs and expectations.
Traditional Wash:
I start with cleaning the wheels, tires and wheel wells using the appropriate products and different brushes to remove all dirt and brake dust. The next step is the body of the car. I usually do a pre-soak with a degreaser, road film remover or cleaning foam, if needed, or just a rinse to remove loose dirt and grime. This is followed by a foam bath and hand wash. During this process, an assortment of brushes are used to clean areas requiring special attention (emblems and other tight spaces). I also clean the inside of the fuel filler area and the door. Next, the vehicle is dried. If it is only a wash, then a gloss-enhancing spray is used during the drying period and the door jambs are cleaned. With the car clean and dry, I apply dressing to the trim and tires. Lastly, I clean the windows inside and out.
Rinse-less Wash:
When using a rinse-less method, I also start with the wheel’s tires and wheel wells using the appropriate products and different brushes to remove all dirt and brake dust. Then I move onto the main body of the car and do a pre-soak with the rinse-less wash solution. Then I gently wash and dry panel by panel around the vehicle. As with the traditional wash, I use brushes to make sure all the hard-to-reach areas are clean. Then the door jambs are addressed. With the car nice and clean, tires and trim are dressed. Lastly, I clean the windows inside and out.
Interior Cleaning
The interior cleaning also starts with an inspection to determine the condition and decide what needs to be done and how to best approach it. This review highlights any areas that may be tough to get clean based on the service desired (stains, etc.). This is generally done when quoting the work and discussing what services are appropriate based on budget, needs and expectations.
I start with removing loose items and trash. Then I take out the floor mats and use a blower to remove as much loose dust and soil particles as possible. The next step is vacuuming. I vacuum the seats and floor using different nozzles and brushes to remove dirt from hard-to-reach places. If needed and part of the agreed-upon service, I use brushes to agitate stuck soil and dirt from the floor mats to be able to vacuum up as much as possible from deep in the fibers. When the vacuuming is done, the other interior surfaces are cleaned using an all purpose cleaner followed by a wipe down with a rinse-less wash solution to remove any residue from the cleaner. During this step, I also use different brushes to remove as much soil and dust as possible. When everything is clean and dry, a dressing is applied.
